This post features just some of the wedding photography of Catherine and Mark who got married at Catherine’s local church in Bedworth before heading to the beautiful Ashton Lodge in Warwickshire.
It was a lovely spring morning, a little chilly but with the sun shining. The day started at Catherine’s parents home to catch some of the bridal preparations, the dress, the wedding bouquet and just getting a feel of the atmosphere really. It was all very relaxed and calm. I then headed to a local hotel where Mark was getting ready with his groomsmen.
Ashton Lodge was set up beautifully, it really is a wonderful place to celebrate a big day with loads of opportunities for great wedding photography. As it got a little chilly in the afternoon we decided to do some of the group shots inside. One of the guests had a bowler hat and just off the cuff I borrowed it for Catherine and we got some wonderful quirky shots of her wearing it, a bride in a bowler hat, you don’t see that at many weddings!
Catherine and Mark had a festival vibe for their wedding day with a lovely VW camper, a great gig line up type poster for their table plan and the tables indicated with famous album covers, very cool.
Along with the bowler hat images some of the photography highlights for me are Catherine and Mark’s couple shoot in the grounds and the house, some wonderful individual portraits of Catherine and I’m really pleased with all the fantastic children’s portraits I managed to capture. There are so many great reportage photos as well that really document the day and give a sort of voyeuristic edge that hopefully captures some of the essence of their wedding. One of my favourite photographs though is my last shot. As I was leaving I thought I would get a shot of Ashton Lodge all lit up at night, after I took it I then looked up over the grounds and the sky was just a mass of twinkling stars with the constellation of Orion in all it’s celestial glory holding court over the heavens, wow I’ve got to get that, so I did.
Special thanks to the very talented Zoe Shannon for assisting me. I hope you enjoy this selection of the wedding photography from Catherine and Mark’s day.
