Reflections

I love this shot of two flower girls at the wedding of Tina and Paul who got married at St Nicholas Church in Henley, Warwickshire.

I love to capture reflections in my photography as I feel they engage the viewer much more than the actual scene they represent. When you look at a photograph, you are not seeing the actual scene as it is happening but a photographic representation of that scene, so if you like you can think of it as being one step removed from the event. When you look at a photograph of a reflection of an event, you are now two steps removed from the event, and so this has a deeper visually engaging effect on the viewer.

I particularly like this shot as from the angle of the girls the casual viewer may think “to get that shot, from that angle, the Photographer would have had to have been kneeling down, next to them, so how come he’s not in the image”? This then engages the viewer even more. You can see more on reflections on a new musing here.
