Speedking Fashion Shoot

Although wedding photography is my main creative outlet I sometimes get asked to shoot model and band portfolios and was recently asked to photograph a lifestyle fashion shoot for a clothing range for Speedking. Speedking market unique branded automotive gifts and products and wanted some photographs of their clothing range so they could be featured on their website, brochures and catalogues.

Although I’d never photographed a fashion shoot before the process was not too dissimilar to shooting a band or model portfolio. I initially met up with Alan, Jason and Sue from Speedking and we discussed the various types of shots they required, possible locations, organising the models and clothing etc. Sue then created a mood board to easier convey their design ideas and give us all a vision of how we wanted the final images to look. A week later we were ready for the actual shoot and I met up with the Speedking team and also our four models for the morning, Louise, Becky, Jon and Chris.

We chose two locations to shoot at and the clothing ranged from T Shirts, hats, bags and shirts. We found the best process was once we had the models comfortable and at ease with a particular pose, Sue would suddenly appear with a new item of clothing and it was just a quick change for the models and we’d carry on shooting from that position. Every now and again I’d slightly change the models or my shooting position to give a bit of variety to the poses and backgrounds.
