It’s great to do wedding photography at a new venue, especially one as beautiful as The Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club in Warwickshire. It was a lovely early October day, nice and dry, a little chilly although we did have sunshine throughout the day.
The hotel is set within a golf course and also has a wonderful deer park within its grounds. A little later in the day, to take advantage of the wonderful light at the Golden Hour, Rachel, Lee and I headed out to the deer park and we got some wonderful portraits, I really like the photographs of Rachel at this time. The sunlight was such a beautiful colour and because it was late in the year it doesn’t tend to be as harsh as the high summer months.
Rachel and Lee were really good fun and they had some super friendly and easy going guests and family. We’d met up about 10 months earlier and I knew they were going to be a fantastic couple to photograph.
I have so many photography highlights from this wedding. Some of my favourite shots include the one where I’ve shot from the interconnecting hotel room door during Rachel’s preparations so you can see what’s going on in two rooms at once, the one of the groomsman silhouetted in the hotel corridor carrying a bag (makes me think he’s off to rob a bank!), the bride and groom portraits, especially the reflection in the puddle, the silhouette at sunset, the one where I’ve shot down through the spiral of the staircase and also the one where Rachel and Lee are standing at an opening above the hotel reception with some guests beneath them. One I really like is the grainy black and white of them walking through the hotel corridor with Rachel raising her hand to hide her face, papped! I also love the energy and colour in the dance floor shots.
